Bathroom Renovation: Part One

Hello all! As you may have gathered from the title, I'm going to be talking about a bathroom renovation. Specifically - our bathroom renovation. We did a lot of stuff (which you will see in the next few weeks), and I really like how it turned out!

This week I'm going to show y'all pictures of the bathroom before we began demo, and pictures of it throughout demo and when we laid the tile.

Ignore all the mess on the windowsill. :) I hope that's not an excessive amount of pictures, it's just really hard to show our entire bathroom in two or even three pictures. It's kinda small and has some tight spots.

So, we got to work demoing... (Is 'demoing' even a verb?)

Leah and I took all the water out of the toilet using sponges. Which was really disgusting.

And then Mom and Dad carried it out to the porch (sorry about the blurry picture).

The hole was pretty gross. Enough said.

Next, the mirror and the sink came out.

Then the counter....

Then the vanity itself...

Leah sweeping in preparation for the tile to be laid. The room felt really empty without the vanity and the shower curtain.

Mom laying the tile. We (aka Mom) rented a wet saw from Home Depot, and did the whole room in less than a day. Pretty impressive, since none of us had ever cut or laid tile before! And just to avoid any confusion - Mom laid the tile by herself (can we have a round of applause?). Dad stood outside the door and offered some suggestions, as well as carry tiles back and forth from the tile-cutting saw.

Tile in...

And grout in... Looks pretty sweet, no?

Hope that was a little bit interesting. We started this between Christmas and New Year's, and we're pretty much done now. I'm hoping that by the last installment of this series it will be completely done. If not, I'll update the post when it is done. :)

Hope you enjoyed this post, and come back on Monday for part two! (Shamelessly trying to draw in readers solely based on the fact that they will be interested in what happens to my tiny bathroom - this seems a little lame.)
